I admittedly do not have enough background on these topics to form an educated and eloquent opinion yet, but I wanted to thank you for such a thought-provoking piece. Definitely given me more to reflect on.
Frankly, it's a breath of fresh air to hear well-articulated opinions with explanations of facts and context. This is a lot more persuasive and informative than 99% of the content and news I see online about topics like this!
Thank you for saying so! I very much enjoy getting to “nerd out” about these kinds of things and share my passion, so I appreciate those who take the time to hear some of the finer details of these topics and attempt to understand the dynamics at play.
Very spot on. Another thing to add to this is that Iran at this point has no reason to trust the US since America under Trump has proven itself to be perfidious (it's clear that this war had been planned for some time and the negotiations beforehand was just to stall for time). IIRC, Sun Tzu also said that all war is deception. The collorary to this would be that absence of war is the absence of deception, meaning there shouldn't deception in peace. Well perfidious Americana (and Israel) failed this test hard.
Excellent article, thank you. You have clearly outlined the art of war which requires skills in diplomacy and negotiation with maturity and careful strategies. All world leaders should, we hope, understand this.
At the end of the day, however, which country benefits the most from the US and Israeli war against Iran? Take a guess, it’s not hard (clue: R_____)
Very insightful. Thank you for sharing your point of view. It remains to be seen what will happen, and I certainly hope cooler (and more thoughtful) heads will prevail.
Good to see a comment about the historical background of this conflict. This feels a bit like a lose/lose situation due to the Islamic Republic’s long-term dedication to destroying the US and Israel and their ties to other powerful countries that want the demise of the US. As you say in your link, they have been playing the long game. Also, how can the Iranian people possibly revolt when they’re unarmed and being gunned down by the Islamic regime? They have suffered since the IRGC took over decades ago. No easy answers.
Just a note about the “bombing” of the girls’ school. I’ve seen a video from someone on Substack which shows the exhaust smoke trail… it came from a few blocks away. I do not believe we or Israel are the responsible parties to that loss of civilian life.
Do you have an opinion on the likely path forward, or the worst case scenario? I kind of think at some point in the next few weeks Trump will 'declare victory' and stop attacking Iran, leaving a huge mess, higher gas prices, and Iran will be looking to rebuild with more hatred for us. I have 0 expertise though lol. I am worried Iran will try to kill as many Americans as possible, and will be trying to set off suicide bombers in populated places in the US.
I think Trump is going to do what you've described, basically just choosing to walk away so he can pretend he still has some semblance of control.
However, I doubt that Iran will likewise "call it good" (or that Israel will, either), and I suspect we are still a long way from any semblance of normalcy or stability in the region due to this. I do think that there will be an elevated terror risk for months, if not years, as extremist types are very good at biding their time (e.g. bin Laden's grievances had been ongoing for roughly a decade by the time 9/11 came about).
Good article. You make solid, common sense points. Unfortunately, we are ruled by psychopaths.

Definitely a lot to unpack. https://warhorseacademy.substack.com/p/this-article-shows-how-i-teach-middle?r=623dd&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

The US has already essentially admitted guilt, and we know it was hit by a Tomahawk missile. Those denying it are spreading misinfo.
Thank you for your reply. I am not hyper focused on this conflict, although I am pleasantly surprised with all the new tech.
I do pray for our troops, for Israel’s troops, and minimal civilian casualties. I also pray for peace, there and many other places.
Almost all of the information I see, read, or hear about this conflict comes from non mainstream sources.
